
A group of dedicated scientists took their oath of office on September 4, 2024. They did so under the Scientific Career System (SCS). The ceremony was held at the Luxent Hotel in Quezon City.
The newly conferred and upgraded career scientists are ready to contribute significantly to the scientific community. They aim to drive technological advancements for the Filipino people.
The six scientists honored were:
Dr. Norvie L. Manigras (Scientist III) from the Philippine Rice Research Institute under the Department of Agriculture.
Dr. Ferdinand V. Salazar (Scientist I) from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine under the Department of Health.
Dr. Marita S. Pinili is a Scientist I. She works at the National Crop Protection Center. It is located at the College of Agriculture and Food Science of the University of the Philippines.
Ms. Fides Marciana Z. Tambalo (Scientist I) from the National Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology at the University of the Philippines.
Dr. Edwin P. Alcantara (Scientist II) from the National Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology at the University of the Philippines.
Dr. Pierangeli G. Vital (Scientist II) from the Natural Sciences Research Institute at the University of the Philippines.
The SCS is a system designed to recognize and reward excellence in scientific research. By upgrading their ranks, these scientists show their commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and innovation in the Philippines.
