
The MOL Magsaysay Maritime Academy (MMMA) held its second graduation ceremony. It was held on February 18th in Dasmariñas, Cavite. 152 cadets graduated. Eighty received Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation degrees. Seventy-two received Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering degrees. All graduates have guaranteed employment with Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) and Magsaysay Maritime Corporation (MMC). The academy meticulously selects its students. Graduates are highly sought-after seafarers.

World boxing champion and former Senator Manny Pacquiao was the honored guest. He inspired the graduates with personal experience as a successful boxer. Japanese diplomats and maritime industry representatives attended the MMMA’s graduation. MMMA also received accreditation from Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT). This is a significant achievement. It showcases MMMA’s high standards.
MMMA’s graduates completed three years of education. They also completed a year of onboard training on an actual crewed ship. This rigorous program prepares them for international maritime careers. Eleven graduates received full scholarships. These scholarships are supported by shipping companies and organizations. MOL is the leading shipping company. They have the world’s second-largest fleet. MOL is also going into green transportation with their wind-powered ships. This is a response to the growing need for green powered shipping. MMMA graduates will be vital in operating future green ships. Their skills will be crucial to the industry’s transition to cleaner energy. MOL Executive Vice President Tanaka, Magsaysay Group President and CEO Doris Ho, and MMMA President Dr. Michael Morales spoke the success of the academy at this event. They celebrated the graduates and the academy’s success. The partnership between MOL and Magsaysay is committed to developing world-class Filipino maritime officers.
