The United Nations declared June 3rd as World Bicycle Day, celebrating the bicycle’s versatility and benefits. Quezon City joined the global celebration in style. The city government, through its Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS) Green Transport Division, organized a fun-filled bicycle ride.

The ride offered two routes for cyclists of all levels. It kicked off bright and early at 5:30 AM. Beginner cyclists enjoyed a shorter route, ending at Mindanao Avenue corner Quirino Highway. More experienced cyclists embarked on a longer, more challenging route along Commonwealth Avenue, finishing at Regalado Avenue.

To mark the occasion, the Green Transport Division handed out special edition reflectors. These were given to bicycle commuters at two designated stations: Mindanao Avenue corner Quirino Highway and Regalado Avenue. The giveaways, available until supplies lasted, promoted bicycle safety and celebrated World Bicycle Day. The city’s commitment to active mobility and sustainable transportation was evident.

Quezon City’s World Bicycle Day celebration was a huge success. It encouraged cycling as a healthy and eco-friendly mode of transportation. The event showcased the city’s dedication to improving its bicycle infrastructure and promoting a greener future. The special edition reflectors served as a reminder of the importance of safety for all cyclists.
