Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) attracted thousands of readers to its booth at the 2026 Manila International Book Fair. The five-day event gathered authors, scholars, and members of the global community to celebrate books and ideas.
The Ateneo de Manila University Press and ADMU Journals booth welcomed a steady stream of visitors. Guests browsed shelves, found familiar titles, and explored new literary works. Visitors also sought out diverse titles on history, social issues, regional culture, and literature.
The University sold hundreds of books and journals during the fair. Popular titles included Versus: Mga Kuwento by DJ Ellamil and Epistolaryo ng Bagamundo at ang Tugon ng Multo by Mikael de Lara Co.
Readers also purchased issues of the Journal of Management for Global Sustainability and Budhi. Other top publications covered the Marcos years, disaster justice, and colonial history. Books on Bicol and Peñafrancia, the Philippines under imperial Japan, and workers’ struggles also sold well.
A major highlight of the fair included book-signing sessions. Featured authors at the AUP booth were Ines Bautista-Yao, Mikael de Lara Co, and Vida Cruz-Borja. DJ Ellamil, Don Jaucian, Alfonso Manalastas, and Trish Shishikura also signed books. Felice Prudente Sta. Maria and Julian Tiongson Jr. joined them.
Faculty members Edgar Calabia Samar and Prof. Ambeth Ocampo launched their latest Rizal-related books. Senator Gil J. Puyat and Professor of History Ambeth R. Ocampo also greeted readers and signed copies of Rizal Lost & Found: The Forgotten Drafts at the Anvil Publishing booth on Sept. 12, 2026.
The signings gave visitors a chance to meet the people behind the printed stories and research. Descendants of Marcelino Fule visited the Ateneo booth on opening day. Fule is a central figure in Nicolas Sy’s article on marriage practices among political elites in San Pablo, Laguna.
The booth served as a vibrant space for discovery and connection. AUP and ADMU Journals successfully showcased works by Ateneo authors, scholars, researchers, and editors.
University participation helps bring publications beyond the campus and into the hands of the public. The annual fair reminds everyone why these publications matter. Books create connections.
The 2026 MIBF ended with strong book sales and large crowds. Visitors left with lasting memories and a little piece of Ateneo to take home.
