Dulaang UP Launches “Ang Kaliitan ng Kasalukuyan” in 48th Season

Dulaang UP will open its 48th theatre season with Ang Kaliitan ng Kasalukuyan. The play runs from 12 March to 29 March 2026 at the IBG‑KAL Theatre, UP Diliman. Shows are on Thursdays and Fridays at 7:30 pm and on Saturdays and Sundays at 2:30 pm and 7:30 pm.

The production marks the revival of the university’s playwrights’ program. The UP Playwrights’ Theatre is now called DUP Playwrights. It enters its 29th season. Ang Kaliitan ng Kasalukuyan is written and directed by Arlo Deguzman, a multi‑award‑winning playwright.

Deguzman said, “The piece is a powerful and contemporary work that tackles the emotional landscape of our present‑day heroes, Overseas Filipino Workers.” He added, “These stories, embodied in movement and lyric, aim to negotiate the melancholically veiled struggles of an OFW.” The play follows a father, a mother, a sister and a son as they cope with the pressures of overseas work.
