Filipino Food Month 2025 Kicks Off

April is Filipino Food Month! The “Buwan ng Kalutong Filipino” 2025 launched this month. The theme is “Sarap ng Pagkaing Pilipino, Yaman ng Ating Kasaysayan, Kultura, at Pagkatao.” This highlights the importance of local ingredients.

Presidential Proclamation No. 469 established the annual celebration. It promotes Filipino cuisine and its diverse culture. The month showcases regional specialties. It also promotes Filipino food globally.

The official media launch occurred on March 21st at the Manila Prince Hotel. Key partners attended the launch. These included the Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Tourism (DOT), the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), and the Philippine Culinary Heritage Movement (PCHM).

NCCA Deputy Executive Director Bernan Joseph Corpuz spoke. He emphasized tradition and innovation in Filipino cooking. He noted the creativity of chefs and home cooks. He also praised the farmers and fisherfolk. Their work makes Filipino food special.

Major events are planned. A nationwide kick-off begins April 3rd at the Quezon Provincial Capitol Grounds. The official opening is April 7th at the DA Central Office and Mines Elementary School.

“Hapag ng Pamana sa Iloilo” runs from April 25th to 29th. This event showcases Iloilo’s culinary traditions. The “Ang Sarap! Philippine Food Festival” will be at Ayala Malls Manila Bay from April 25th to 27th. The FFM closing ceremony is on April 27th.

More events will be announced from NCCA. Filipino Food Month aims to educate the public. It aims to foster appreciation for the nation’s culinary heritage. The NCCA, DA, DOT, and PCHM spearhead this important celebration.
