Honoring ‘Kutseros’ as Pillars of Filipino Culture

The Department of Tourism (DOT) recognized the invaluable contribution of “kutseros” (coachmen) to Filipino culture and heritage. The event, spearheaded by Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, was part of the World Tourism Month celebration. It highlighted the cultural significance of these frontline workers and their iconic “kalesa” (horse-drawn carriage).

The DOT emphasized the kalesa as a traditional Filipino transportation. It symbolizes the country’s rich history and cultural identity. The celebration also acknowledged the vital role of tour guiding in shaping the Philippine tourism landscape.
