
Savoy Hotel Manila (SHM) celebrated its 7th anniversary with a bang. The hotel hosted its second annual “Trashion” sh⁶ow, a dazzling display of sustainable fashion. Their theme this year is “KULAY,” celebrating Pride Month’s colors. “KULAY” is an acronym representing nature, connection, freedom, advocacy, and a stage of change.
The competition showcased the talents of SHM employees. Different departments participated. Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering, Food & Beverage, Finance, and Sales, Marketing & Reservations all created unique outfits. They used the hotel’s materials bound for waste to upcycled their fashion piece.

The resulting wears are stunning. Judges faced a difficult task. The judges of this competition are Eden Decano who is a Group Director of Finance and Head of Sustainability at MHR, George Buid from Fashion Revolution Philippines, and Allyssa Majarucon who is an Estate Officer of Newport City Estate Association. They assessed creativity and the message behind each design. A Q&A session further tested participants’ understanding of sustainability’s link to social justice.

The Housekeeping Department emerged as the champion. Their creative designs impressed the judges. Engineering secured second place, followed by Front Office in third. The event boosted team spirit. It highlighted SHM’s commitment to environmental responsibility.

The TRASHion show reflected SHM’s dedication to both sustainability and community. Employees transformed trash into fashion. Their creativity impressed. Hopefully the hotel guests could appreciate tje winning creations.
