Israeli Film Festival Spotlights Women

The 18th Israeli Film Festival is coming to the Philippines. The film festival will be held from July 24 – 27, 2025. You can watch the films at the BHS Cinemas in Central Square, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City. The cinema admission is free.

The film festival theme this year is “Women at the Center.” The festival will showcase films with strong female characters. These films explore love, leadership, and resilience. They also examine the impact of women’s stories. The festival aims to foster connections through culture and art.

The Embassy of Israel in the Philippines hosts this event. Ambassador Ilan Fluss spoke about the importance of women in society. The Ambassador highlighted their role in shaping history and culture. The festival also shows the different side of Israel. It goes beyond the headlines. It uses cinema and culture to connect with audiences.

The opening night featured the film “Golda.” The story of Golda Meir, the first female Prime Minister of Israel. The film explores her leadership during the Yom Kippur War.

The festival has seven screenings of five different films. Early birds will get free popcorn. All films, except Golda, are in Hebrew with English subtitles. The festival is a celebration of women in film. It highlights their contributions on and off screen. The festival offers a chance to reflect. It invites audience to consider the power of women.

Featured Films at the Festival

• The Art of Waiting: A drama about a couple’s journey through fertility treatments. It explores love, identity, and emotional endurance. Tali and Liran face challenges and family pressure.

• The Milky Way (Milk): A dark comedy about a single mom working at a breast milk dairy. Tala discovers deeper questions about value and womanhood. The film is about labor, survival, and dignity.

• Zero Motivation: A dark comedy set at a remote army base. Three young women find humor and friendship. They rebel against the monotony of their work.

• Marrying Myself (Mithatenet): A romantic comedy about a woman who marries herself. Michal explores modern singlehood and social expectations. She chooses her happiness.

• Golda: A historical drama about Golda Meir during the Yom Kippur War. It explores her leadership during a critical time in Israel’s history. Award-winning actress Helen Mirren plays Golda Meir.
