
Rizal Medical Center (RMC) and Makati Medical Foundation with Israel’s Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov) experts as they joined forces. A joint communique between the Philippines and Israel through the efforts of MASHAV. This is Israel’s agency for international development cooperation. They signed such partnership on 17 June 2025. This creates a new Women’s Health Center. The partnership was witnessed by key figures. This includes Department of Health Secretary Dr. Teodoro Herbosa and RMC Medical Center Chief II Dr. Maria Rica Lumague. Also present were Ambassador Ilan Fluss and MASHAV Deputy Ambassador Irit Savion.
This significant collaboration aims to improve women’s healthcare in the Philippines. It’s the largest Israeli-funded project in the country in recent years. The Israeli government is funding the initiative. The center will follow the Israeli model for women’s health.

Ambassador Fluss praised RMC’s doctors and professionals. He emphasized the potential for collaboration. He highlighted the exchange of knowledge and technology. This includes system upgrades and capacity building. The goal is to provide better services for Filipino women. He noted the alignment with the Philippine government’s priorities. Secretary Herbosa has listed women’s health as one of his three top priority.
Despite recent geopolitical events, the Israeli Embassy in Manila continues its partnerships. Seventeen Filipino officials recently visited Israel. They participated in a study visit program sponsored by MASHAV. Reports of them being stranded are incorrect. They are expected to return to the Philippines soon. This collaboration showcases commitment to improving healthcare, despite global challenges. The new Women’s Health Center represents a significant step forward. It promises improved access to advanced healthcare for Filipino women.
