Philippines Crowned Top Food Destination for 2026

The Philippines is now a top food destination for 2026. The prestigious Michelin Guide has recently bestowed this exciting honor on the country. This recognition puts the Philippines on the global gastronomy map. The country joins an elite list of just 16 recommended food destinations worldwide. The Department of Tourism (DOT) warmly welcomed the news.

Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco celebrated the achievement. “Gastronomy is a vital expression of our national identity,” she said. This recognition supports the goal of sustainable tourism. It celebrates what is authentically Filipino.

Michelin Guide inspectors praised several standout dishes. They recommended sisig, sinigang, inasal, and adobo. These foods have a perfect blend of sweet, salty, and acidic flavors. The guide also highlighted the nation’s young local chefs. They skillfully balance traditional and modern cooking techniques. This balance deserves international recognition.

This adds to a historic year for Filipino food. The Michelin Guide officially arrived in the country in October 2025. It recognized 108 excellent establishments in Manila and Cebu. Soon, the Philippines will also host the UN Tourism World Gastronomy Forum in 2026. For food lovers, it is an ideal time to explore the Philippines.
