Savoy Hotel Manila, a brand of Megaworld Hotels & Resorts, partnered with Books for a Cause on Saturday. The partnership brought a new bookshelf and books to the children of Project Pearls Learning Center. The event was called the Bookshelf Project. It focused on joy, learning, and community service.

The hotel’s engineering team built a four‑tier wooden bookshelf by hand. The shelf was filled with children’s books donated by Books for a Cause. The giveaway opened with a welcome message from General Manager Den Navarro. He said, “The Circle of Happiness culture of Savoy Hotel Manila and Megaworld Hotels & Resorts is rooted in our love for service and love for country.” He added, “The Bookshelf Project reflects this belief—serving communities with sincerity while helping shape a better future for the next generation of Filipinos.”
Project Pearls leaders, teachers, and volunteers helped run the day. Over a hundred preschool learners took part. Greg De Garriz, Director of People Management and Development, led a storytelling session. He read Bible stories such as Jonah and David and Goliath. The stories encouraged the children to be brave. They also taught faith and personal strength.
After the stories, the children colored pictures. Savoy Hotel Manila staff assisted with the activity. The staff also served a nutritious lunch. The meal was prepared by the hotel’s culinary team. Staff members bought handcrafted items from GROW, Project Pearls’ livelihood program. Their purchases supported women’s economic empowerment.

The event linked the hotel’s sustainability goals to community aid. Savoy’s MEGreen program stresses responsible tourism. Navarro explained the link. He said, “Through MEGreen’s Community to Shape pillar, we are reminded that being responsible corporate citizens means investing in education, nurturing young minds, and supporting initiatives that create lasting social impact.” He added, “By giving children access to books and a space to read, we help build confidence, curiosity, and hope—values that extend far beyond the classroom.”
The Bookshelf Project adds to Savoy Hotel Manila’s Circle of Happiness culture. The culture goes beyond hotel services. It aims to strengthen neighborhoods. It also seeks to create a brighter, more sustainable future. Project Pearls will keep the bookshelf for future classes. The children now have a dedicated place to read. The books cover stories, poems, and educational topics.
Savoy Hotel Manila is a homegrown brand of Megaworld Hotels & Resorts. The chain is the Philippines’ largest hotel operator. The hotel sits near NAIA Terminal 3. It also offers easy access to Terminals 1 and 2 via the Skyway. The property promotes Filipino hospitality through its Sampaguita Service.
Recently, the hotel launched the Mindful Stays, Meaningful Impact package. The package includes a two‑night stay, breakfast, welcome and turndown amenities, an MEGreen tote bag, and a 20 % discount on plant‑based menu items. A portion of each stay supports Project Pearls. The package encourages guests to join the hotel’s social‑environmental mission.
The Bookshelf Project shows how hotels can act as community partners. It highlights the role of corporate social responsibility in education. It also demonstrates how sustainable tourism can boost local livelihoods. Savoy Hotel Manila hopes the project will inspire other businesses. The hope is that more children will gain access to books and learning spaces.
