Tourism and Health Department Unveils Tourist Safety Initiative

The Philippines is basking in the limelight. Its island paradise, Siargao, has been hailed as the number one best place to visit in Southeast Asia. This accolade was given by renowned travel magazine Lonely Planet. This prestigious recognition underscores the island’s unparalleled beauty, thrilling adventures, and warm hospitality.

Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco expressed immense pride over Siargao’s achievement, highlighting the island’s contribution to the country’s growing tourism industry. She emphasized the importance of sustainable tourism and preserving the natural wonders of the Philippines.

Secretary Frasco announced a significant development aimed at enhancing the overall tourist experience. The Department of Tourism (DOT) has partnered with the Department of Health (DOH). It also includes the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA). This collaboration aims to focus on tourist safety. It focuses on well-being by establishing Tourist First Aid Facilities in key tourist destinations nationwide.

“We are committed to transforming the Philippine tourism industry into a global powerhouse,” Secretary Frasco declared. “Tourist safety is our top priority, and these facilities will give essential medical care and support to our visitors.”

The Tourist First Aid Facilities will be equipped with medical personnel, equipment, and medicines to handle emergencies promptly. Additionally, solar-powered First Aid Booths will be deployed along coastlines to offer immediate assistance.

The first rollout of these facilities will cover popular tourist destinations. These include Boracay, La Union, Panglao, Palawan, and Puerto Galera. The DOT and DOH aim to expand this initiative to more locations in the future.

Secretary Frasco emphasized the government’s dedication to improving the tourism landscape and creating a more competitive environment for the Philippines. The DOT prioritizes tourist safety and well-being. Their goal is to attract more visitors and generate economic growth. They also aim to showcase the country’s rich culture and heritage.
