Two Nations Weaves Their Bond

The “Fabric of Friendship” fashion show celebrated the cultural ties between the Republic of the Philippines and Brunei Darussalam. It showcases the rich heritage of both nations. The National Commission on Culture and Arts (NCCA) organized this event with the Embassy of Brunei attracted a diverse audience. The distinguished guests, First Lady of the Philippines Liza Araneta Marcos and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna of Brunei, attended the event. They officially opened the show.

After the flag ceremonies, the catwalk featured two Filipino fashion designers. Lyle Ibañez and M Barretto presented collections that beautifully blended cultural elements. Ibañez’s women’s wear highlighted a multi-cultural mix. While Barretto offered colorful contemporary men’s formal and semi-formal attire.

Half the show, the audience was captivated by the performance of the soprano duo, the Nightingales. Then continued with two Bruneian designers. Notably, Na Forrér’s collection amazed the audience with her fusion of formal dresses and evening gowns. Where she infused it with Bruneian cultural elements. Meanwhile, Fadzil Hadin’s designs celebrated Bruneian pride, tailored for the contemporary individual.

The bonds between Brunei and the Philippines further strengthened through this fashion show. Reaffirming a friendship that has endured for over two decades. Both to promote Muslim-friendly tourism, investments, and cultural exchange.
