Golfers will soon gather for a noble cause. The Berjaya–Malaysia Friendship Open 2026 is officially set. The event will take place on November 28, 2026. The venue is the Pradera Verde Golf and Country Club in Lubao, Pampanga. Malaysia Friendship Golf is the main organizer. The tournament aims to raise vital funds for charity.
The event will bring many people together. Key figures will attend from the diplomatic community. Government officials will also join the games. Corporate executives are signing up to play. Golf enthusiasts from Malaysia and the Philippines will participate. International residents based in the Philippines are welcome too. Around 288 players will hit the greens.

His Excellency Dato’ Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino is the Ambassador of Malaysia to the Philippines. He shared his thoughts on the upcoming tournament. He underscored the event’s significance in promoting goodwill, sportsmanship and cross-border collaboration. The ambassador noted the broader goals of the gathering. The tournament aims to serve as a platform for fostering stronger partnerships, mutual understanding and unity across diverse cultures and communities. He added another important point. Beyond the golf course, the event seeks to encourage meaningful, long-term connections that will leave a lasting positive impact.
The tournament offers more than just friendly competition. It focuses heavily on humanitarian work. Proceeds from the tournament will be directed towards charitable initiatives and humanitarian efforts, providing much-needed assistance and emergency relief to vulnerable communities affected by natural calamities and disasters. These efforts will uplift women and children who survive difficult crises. People with disabilities will also receive crucial support.

Stephen Khaw serves as the MYFG and MCCI Chairman. He spoke about the financial transparency of the event. Stephen Khaw emphasised that 100% of the proceeds will be channelled to CSR programmes under the auspices of the Embassy of Malaysia and the Malaysia Chamber of Commerce & Industries Philippines Inc.
The year 2026 holds special meaning for the region. The tournament carries added significance as it coincides with the Philippines’ ASEAN Chairship, highlighting the country’s leadership in promoting regional unity and cooperation across Southeast Asia. The event has another strategic timing. It also complements Malaysia’s ongoing tourism promotion efforts under Visit Malaysia Year 2026–2027, which seeks to welcome more international visitors and strengthen regional tourism ties.
Both nations share common goals for the future. Together, these initiatives reflect the shared commitment of both countries to promoting peace, economic cooperation and cultural exchange. The sports event highlights cooperative efforts. The tournament stands as a testament to the importance of public-private partnerships and shared corporate social responsibility.

Many groups made this event possible. Organizers expressed deep gratitude to key supporters.
