DOT and Klook Renew Partnership

The Department of Tourism and Klook renewed their partnership on Tuesday. The two groups signed a multi-year Memorandum of Understanding in Makati City. The agreement aims to boost domestic travel and promote Philippine tourism worldwide.

The alliance will highlight hidden gems across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. It will use Klook’s global reach and network. The partnership supports campaigns like “Discover More to Love.” It will also help local businesses adopt digital tools.

DOT Secretary Dita Angara-Mathay spoke about the stakeholders.

“As we continue to expand our partnership with Klook, we are placing greater emphasis on the participation of our tourism stakeholders,” Angara-Mathay said.

She noted the focus on micro, small, and medium enterprises.

“We want to ensure that our experience providers, particularly MSMEs in the provinces, are equipped to participate meaningfully in the digital tourism ecosystem,” she said.

The DOT chief explained the benefits of the platform.

“By giving them access to platforms such as Klook, where their offerings can be made more visible and bookable, we can connect them more directly with travelers while making the booking process more seamless, convenient, and secure,” she added.

Klook expressed excitement over the extended agreement. Michelle Ho is the General Manager of Klook Philippines.

“Our partnership with the DOT has been an incredible milestone for Klook, and we are thrilled to extend this across a multi-year period to elevate what we believe Philippine tourism can be,” Ho said.

She emphasized the impact on local merchants.

“By supporting and empowering local merchants, we aren’t just making unique, authentic Filipino experiences more accessible, but are ultimately positioning the Philippines as a top-of-mind destination for travelers domestically and worldwide,” Ho stated.

The DOT and Klook will work on new tourism initiatives. They will spotlight emerging destinations and hidden gems. The DOT’s Regional Offices will help develop tourism products for local operators and MSMEs.

Klook continues to advance digital adoption in the country. The partnership helps local businesses reach more travelers. It also tailors offerings to meet modern travel needs.

Ho highlighted the success of their past work.

“This renewed ambition is a testament to the success of our combined efforts, and we look forward to collaborating on even more initiatives to propel Philippine tourism forward,” she said.

Travelers can track upcoming plans from both groups. Updates will appear on Klook’s Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok accounts. The Klook mobile app is available for download on the Google Play Store and the Apple Store.
