The Bureau of Internal Revenue collected ₱2.003 trillion from January to July 2026. This amount surpassed the ₱1.990 trillion goal by ₱13.53 billion, or 0.68 percent.
The seven-month collection is ₱102.60 billion higher than the same period last year. It represents a 5.4 percent year-on-year growth.
Commissioner Charlito Martin R. Mendoza said the agency collected about 60 percent of its full-year target for 2026. This milestone reflects better taxpayer compliance. It also shows the sustained collection efforts of the Revenue Regions, Revenue District Offices, and the Large Taxpayers Service.
“We remain guided by the President’s directive to make government services more accessible to taxpayers, and by Secretary Frederick Go’s direction to make tax administration fairer and more efficient for businesses and investors,” Mendoza said.
Gross collections for July alone reached ₱358.44 billion. The figure beat the monthly target of ₱336.07 billion by ₱22.37 billion, or 6.66 percent.

July collections also rose by ₱19.41 billion compared to the same month last year. That increase marks a 5.73 percent year-on-year growth.
“These results show that better taxpayer service, clearer rules, and effective enforcement can support stronger compliance and collection,” Mendoza said.
The bureau continues to implement its five-point reform agenda, known as BIR DARES. The program simplifies tax rules and processes. It expands digital services and improves taxpayer assistance. It also strengthens audit safeguards and enforces tax laws against deliberate noncompliance.
These reforms aim to improve overall compliance. They also help protect the government revenue base.
“We will continue helping taxpayers comply correctly and on time, while making sure that taxes properly due are collected fairly and efficiently,” Mendoza said.
