The Department of Tourism welcomed the latest update from the prestigious MICHELIN Guide. The recent announcement includes two top-tier properties and several new additions.
El Nido Resorts Lagen Island in Palawan made history. Raffles Makati also joined the highest tier. Both properties earned Two MICHELIN Keys for the first time.

The MICHELIN Guide praised El Nido Resorts Lagen Island for its stunning natural environment. The resort sits inside a forested cove. Towering limestone cliffs frame the property. Raffles Makati achieved a major promotion. The hotel moved up from One to Two MICHELIN Keys. The guide highlighted its spacious all-suite accommodations. NUSTAR Hotel Cebu made the list in Cebu City. El Nido Resorts Pangulasian Island secured a spot in Palawan. Hotel Okura Manila joined the ranks in Newport World Resorts, Pasay City. Manami Resort also earned the honor in Sipalay City, Negros Occidental.
Meanwhile, three properties successfully retained their One MICHELIN Key status. Nay Palad Hideaway in Siargao kept its title. Fairmont Makati maintained its distinction. Amanpulo in Palawan also retained its award.

“This recognition reflects the continued growth of Philippine hospitality and the dedication of our tourism stakeholders in creating exceptional experiences for travelers from around the world,” Tourism Secretary Dita Angara-Mathay said.
The tourism chief emphasized the broader impact of the awards. She noted the importance of showcasing various types of accommodations.
“Beyond the recognition itself, we see this as an opportunity to further position the Philippines as a destination where travelers can find exceptional stays, from our island resorts to our urban hotels, all anchored on the warmth of Filipino hospitality,” she added.
The MICHELIN Guide evaluates hotels using five universal criteria. Inspectors examine excellence in architecture and interior design. They check the quality and consistency of service. They look at the overall personality and character of the property. They assess value for the price. Finally, they review the hotel’s contribution to its neighborhood and setting.
The MICHELIN Key serves as the hotel equivalent of the famous MICHELIN Star for restaurants. It highlights the most outstanding experiences available in the global hotel selection.
Secretary Angara-Mathay stressed the importance of continued collaboration within the sector. She believes teamwork will sustain the upward momentum of the local tourism industry.
