Ateneo de Manila University Associate Professor Dr. Janice A. Ragaza has received two major international appointments. She is now an associate editor for Animal Feed Science and Technology. She also joined the editorial board of the Journal of Applied Aquaculture.
Only a few scholars from the Philippines and Southeast Asia serve on these boards.
Dr. Ragaza leads the Ateneo Aquatic and Fisheries Resources Laboratory. Her research focuses on aquaculture nutrition and fish biology. She works to find sustainable alternatives to traditional fish feeds. Her studies often use local raw materials, plant-based proteins, and agricultural by-products.
These efforts aim to improve fish growth and health. She also advocates for environmentally responsible practices for species like the Nile tilapia.
Animal Feed Science and Technology is a leading publication for animal nutrition and feed development. The Journal of Applied Aquaculture is known for moving science and practice forward.
Dr. Ragaza already serves on the editorial board of Discover Animals. She also holds a seat on the advisory board of Aquaculture Research.
Her new roles highlight a growing trend. Filipino and Southeast Asian researchers now hold more influence in global scientific dialogue. Her work continues to advance sustainable fisheries management in the Philippines and beyond.
