The Travel Madness Expo (TME) 2026 kicked off its three-day run today at the SMX Convention Center in the SM Mall of Asia. The doors opened on July 10 amid rainy weather. Typhoon “Inday” is currently passing through the Philippines. The wet weather did not stop travelers. Instead, the rain pushed more visitors to the indoor venue.

The first day was exclusive to Metrobank cardholders. They enjoyed early access to the event’s travel preview sale. Cardholders received free admission by showing their valid card and a government ID. Many visitors flocked to the booths to secure flight deals and holiday packages.

A Growing Travel Scene

TME 2026 features a wider variety of exhibitors than previous years. Filipinos can now explore travel options to countries they rarely visit. Notable international destinations include Georgia, Papua New Guinea, and the Czech Republic.

The Embassy of the Czech Republic hosted a prominent booth this year. Officials stood ready to answer questions about tourism and visa requirements. Other popular booths include those for Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Guam.

Travelers can browse through a massive selection of offerings. The expo includes discounted airfare, hotel stays, cruise deals, and tour packages. Industry leaders highlighted the event’s importance for local and global tourism.

Strong Industry Support

Travel Madness Expo 2026 Chairperson Maria Paz Alberto led the opening ceremonies. She was joined by Department of Tourism Undersecretary Stanley Ng and Philippine Airlines Regional Head-Philippines Bryan L. Ang. Their presence signaled strong ties between the government and the private sector.

Malaysia Airlines serves as the official airline partner for the 2026 event. Philippine Airlines returns as the national airline partner. Other key participants include Singapore Airlines, Qantas, Qatar Airways, and Sunlight Air.

Metrobank remains a central pillar of the expo. The bank provides flexible installment plans for travelers. These financial options make expensive international trips more affordable for many Filipinos.

High Expectations for 2026

Organizers have set high goals for this year’s participation. The TME 2025 attracted over 41,000 visitors during its three-day run. Event managers hope to exceed that number by the time the doors close on July 12.

The expo is more than just a place to buy tickets. It serves as a meeting point for airlines, hotels, and tourism boards. These groups gather to increase travel accessibility for the public. The current rainy season has forced many people to stay indoors. This shift has indirectly benefited the event by driving foot traffic into the convention center.

Plan Your Trip

The expo is now open to the general public. It will continue through Sunday, July 12. Attendees are encouraged to check the official event website for schedules. Resources are available at www.travelmadnessph.com.

Updates are also posted on the official Facebook and Instagram pages under the handle @TravelMadnessPH. Visitors should bring their IDs and prepare to navigate a busy floor. With dozens of countries represented, the event offers a unique chance to compare prices and plan future adventures under one roof.

Whether you seek a local getaway or a trip to a far-off land, TME 2026 provides the tools needed for travel. Despite the storm outside, the atmosphere inside the SMX Convention Center remains vibrant. Filipinos clearly have a strong desire to see the world. This expo serves as the starting point for those journeys.
